Project Open Door Grant Award
The WBCC has been awarded a small Bridging Communities grant
from the University of Minnesota Center for Urban and Regional Affairs
for Project Open Door. Project Open Door is an educational and outreach
effort to develop relationships with leadership of the immigrant
communities, inform people about the opportunity for citizen
participation, and hear from immigrant groups about the barriers they
see to involvement in order to create a welcoming organization. Grassroots Climate Change Micro Grant As
part of the City of Minneapolis's Sustainability Initiative to reduce
the City's carbon dioxide footprint, this grant program funds projects
that engage Minneapolis residents and businesses to take concrete
actions to reduce their global warming footprint. The WBCC was one of
18 project that received funding in the 2008 round of grants. Every
project includes signing up people to take the Minnesota Energy
Challenge. The WBCC is
organizaing three community tree and shrub planting events in different
residential areas of the neighborhood. Food and games will be
provided at the planting events. Participants can also sign up

The
Dania Partners project consists of creating a model for multicultural
community-based planning that will develop the community's organizing
infrastructure, build new leadership and increase civic engagement
amoung all population groups. The partners strive to speak in many
languages but with one voice. The long-term goal of the project is to
develop a new Dania Hall and to revitalize Cedar Avenue, creating a
thriving and energitic commercial corridor. The

Central Corridor CAC
The Central Corridor Community Advisory Committee (CAC)
meets monthly and advises the Central Corridor Management Committee and
provides input and feedback to Central Corridor Project Office staff on
issues related to the planning, design and construction of the Central
Corridor LRT project.

St. Paul district councils and 5 Minneapolis neighborhood associations
that have joined together in a collaborative association designed to
facilitate neighborhood participation in shaping the direction of
future Central Corridor light rail development. - District Council Collaberative website
University District Partnership Alliance 2007
Minnesota Legislature provided funding for the creation of the
University Partnership District Alliance. The University Partnership
District Alliance will
work toward maintaining the neighborhoods adjecent to the Minneapolis campus as a vital, safe, and
attractive community in which to live, learn, and work. Doris Wickstrom and Laura Silver represent the WBCC on the
